Did You Know? As of April 1, 2008, there were 12,455 people working in permanent full-time, permanent part-time, term and labour service positions in the public service. Programs & Services Workplace DiversityThe diversity of the people in the Saskatchewan public service is one of its greatest strengths. Managing diversity successfully means creating an environment that values and uses the contributions of people with different backgrounds, experiences and perspectives. Diversity refers to all of the characteristics that make individuals different from each other. These differences can include factors such as race, ethnicity, gender, or having a disability. Our province is becoming more diverse through initiatives such as new immigration programs in place to assist people from around the world to move here. As well, our Aboriginal youth are the fastest growing demographic in the province. At the same time, persons with disabilities are also an under-utilized group that is able to assist with the labour shortages we are facing. It is important that the Saskatchewan public service reflect the diversity found in our province, to ensure our policies, programs and frontline services are responsive and relevant to the people of the province. This website provides further information about diversity in the Saskatchewan public service, measures we are using to ensure our workforce reflects our population, and tools and information managers and employees may use to help ensure our workforce is a diverse one.
